PETROS TREKLIS

BIOGRAPHY

Petros Treklis graduated in 2010 from London’s ‘Laban Conservatoire’ with a BA (Hons) in Contemporary Dance, immediately after, joining Tavaziva Dance as a dance artist for several years. Whilst in London, Petros also appeared as a guest artist with Watkins Dance, worked with IJAD on their project ‘In-Finite Space’, AND DANCED for Place Prize Winner Riccardo Buscarini and Taiwanese Choreographer Hsiao-mei Ho for the ‘ArtsCross 2013 Project’. WHILST IN LONDON, Petros was also invited to perform with akram khan company in the LONDON 2012 OLYMPICS OPENING CEREMONY.

In 2014, Petros went on to join the prestigious Sydney Dance Company under the Artistic Directorship of Rafael Bonachela, performing works worldwide by Bonachela, as well as Andonis Foniadakis, Gabrielle Nankivell, William Forsythe, Alexander Ekman, Larissa McGowan, Kristina Chan, Gideon Obarzanek, Jacopo Godani, Shian Law, Melanie Lane, Cheng Tsung-Lung and Antony Hamilton. After five years with Sydney Dance Company, PERFORMING FEATURE ROLES IN AND APART OF MULTIPLE AWARD WINNING AND NOMINATED PRODUCTIONS, PETROS MADE THE move back home to Melbourne to pursue his career as a FREELANCE choreographer and dance artist. 

Petros created his first professional work for Sydney Dance Company as a part of their ‘New Breed’ Season, the work winning ‘Best New Work 2017’ by Critics Choice Awards, Dance Australia. Since then, Petros has gone on to make work for The Australian Ballet (2019) AS WELL AS CHOREOGRAPH AN ADVERT FOR ANZ BANK (2020). PETROS most recently premiered his newest work ‘tethered’ with Queensland ballet (2022).

When Petros is not working on professionally commissioned projects with companies, he is teaching dance and choreographing throughout the state of Victoria for many of Melbourne’s established dance institutions, AS WELL AS HAVING ADJUDICATED FOR SOME OF AUSTRALIA’S PRESTIGIOUS EISTEDDFODS, TEACHING MASTERCLASSES AND WORKSHOPS REGIONALLY, AND BEING INVITED TO ACT AS ONE OF THE FEW SELECTED PANEL MEMBERS FOR ‘VICARTS’ GRANTS.
